YUV

A common, if not exactly popular (or at least not intuitive) coordinatization of color space. Y is luminance; the chrominance signals are defined by:

• U = B - Y
• V = R - Y

where R and B are red and blue signals. Not as straightforward as RGB, though equivalent, and much more efficient. Color encoding used in SECAM.
